EPL Week 9

Tottenham Tops the table

Son Heung-min struck and Giovani Lo Celso scored 35 seconds after coming on as a substitute as Tottenham defeated Manchester City.

Tottenham moved top of the Premier League after strikes from Son Heung-min and Giovani Lo Celso earned them a statement 2-0 victory over Manchester City.

Jose Mourinho celebrated a year in charge of Spurs with a second straight win over old rival Guardiola, who was hoping to mark his new contract with a positive result but has now lost all three of his games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Son converted a Tanguy Ndombele pass after five minutes on Saturday and Mourinho’s men, who spent much of the intervening time on the back foot, sealed the triumph when Lo Celso beat Ederson with 25 minutes remaining.

Liverpool put injury woes behind them

Leicester City travelled to Anfield in immense form, but Liverpool – despite missing key men – claimed an easy win to create history.

Liverpool cruised to a 3-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday to set a new club record of 64 top-flight home matches unbeaten as Diogo Jota continued a remarkable Anfield streak of his own.

Jurgen Klopp was without a host of key men, with Joe Gomez, Jordan Henderson and Mohamed Salah among the latest to join their lengthy absentee list, but they dealt with the threat posed by Leicester with impressive ease considering their circumstances.
