Match day 32

1 Mins read

Manchester United won at home after beating Burnley 3-1 at Old Trafford. After going in goalless at half-time, Greenwood opened the scoring with a cool, left-footed finish, courtesy of Fernandes’ smart dummy inside the area. Just 114 seconds later, Tarkowski levelled things up with a header from Westwood’s corner before Greenwood restored United’s lead with a deflected finish in the 84th minute. The Clarets sent numbers forward in search of an equaliser, which allowed van de Beek to tee up CavaniĀ on the counter-attack to seal a 3-1 victory in additional time.

Arsenal salvage a point at home against Fulham, with a late equaliser from Nketiah making it 1-1. The hosts dominated much of the game and they had a goal ruled out by VAR at the end of the first half. However, after Gabriel fouled Lemina in the box and VAR confirmed the spot-kick, Maja smashed it high into the back of the net. Arsenal pressed forward in search of an equaliser and it looked like Fulham would secure the win, but Nketiah popped up in the 97th minute to share the points.

Liverpool actually have to earn their way into continental competition next season, their chances took a hit tonight. Two dropped points leaves them sixth, two points behind West Ham in fourth. Chelsea are two points ahead of them in fourth. Leeds remain 10th but go level on points with another Super League behemoth, Arsenal, who are ninth in the table.

Brighton claim their first ever point at Stamford Bridge after catching Chelsea on an off day. Potter’s men were defensively resolute and had the best chances to win this with Lallana firing wide and Welbeck hitting the post. Chelsea lose momentum in the top four race though on fourth position with 55points with Westham who lost to Newcastle on Saturday. They have more pressing things to deal with.

Manchester City will face Aston Villa at Villa park later today to complete their round of fixtures.
